The Secret Rulers of the World

In the midst of these moon-bright forest-ways that were wrought with fine streams of cognizant warmth, Mani now saw a circle of finely laid, smokeless fires that were set around the mountain.
At each sacrificial place there were boys and girls in scintillating, silvery-white clothes.
They sat on richly decorated mats in lotus-seat, had their eyes closed and practised meditation.

When Mani saw these luminous figures spreading the deep enlivened silence so powerfully, the thought arose naturally within her, that all the power of that shower of experience, that still thrilled her so lively, originally proceeded from the milk-streams of enlightenment that these quiet people radiated, as if the showers of happiness came from the creator himself.
And in the bright boys and girls Mani recognized the rulers over pure creativity, formed by the enlivened silence.

Here in the moon-lit field of pure consciousness began and ended all outer worldly activity and all destiny, and also all meaning of the world that can be recognized outside, as it unfolds in time and space.
Here then was the silvery gate to the sources of pure knowledge which permeated the world of immortality as divine streams - safely guarded by the strong giants and ruled so skilfully by the versed alfs.

Mani beheld a perfect world, hidden here in the transcendence, that the busy deluded, entangled in the jumble of mortality, never see, hardly expect, and often enough renounce as unreal, a world from which the sage draws so miraculously.

“These moon-sacrifices form the lively kernel of all outwardly directed creative power,” explained Sol to his sister.

“The divine sparks of knowledge, which as enlivening impulses of happiness inspire man to higher wisdom, can only grow on the pure and fertile ground of effective, inner-mental sacrifice.
