Thus it came that under the ringing umbrella of the ever-greening, ever-young leaf-mountain first the whiteners and the reddeners together playfully won over the blackeners. This decision made the deep-blue valkyries leave after accomplishing their task. So they turned into swans white as snow and flew to a nearby mountain-lake. Next, the whiteners won over the reddeners, which caused the red valkyries
to fly off after having discharged their duties. In that manner all the three teams were all white; peacefully united they all belonged to the same family now, and all the quarrel was forgotten. All of nature, all trees and shrubs, all bushes, all flowers and all the grass, all birds and animals of the forests, all stones and all the soil now appeared in a very mild white light - like in the most delicate winter; and the bright moon poured her refreshing light-shapes out on everything in a white shower of rays. Finally, the remaining nine shield-girls flew away in the form of white-glistening swans to join the others, that were assembled at the mountain-lake waiting for them. Festively decorated all the fighters marched now in a solemn procession
underneath the leaf-mountain into the white mountain of the twelve restfully
alert men, and when the gleaming cleft closed behind them, a growing
deep silence spread throughout nature. Delicate and lovely strains resounded in the enrapturing silence and awakened the dormant divine forces in the hearts of all. Mani too felt how for the first time she woke up in the deepest depth of her mind. She felt relieved from the slag, that the overall fermentation had set free within her, and which had flowed away from her like salts. |
