The Whiteners in the Sign of the Full Moon | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
As soon as the blackeners had slipped past, there came a man in a long white robe and with shoes white as snow. He was accompanied by a group of white helpers, that was as large as the group of the blackeners. Now
they turned everything black into white again, so that one thought that
snow was falling everywhere. All of nature turned into a state of restful alertness; and Mani too felt how in the darkness of her tiredness an enlivening, infinitely refreshing, milk-white brightness spread and flooded through her mind invigorating. Her senses were sharpened as if by very fine chips of diamond, until eventually she believed she was able to listen, to feel, to see, to taste and to smell into all spaces and times. Now the white-makers opened the mountain with snow-drops, passed the many-headed, silvery-white shimmering dragon and entered the cave; they turned the cave and all the black men, that were sunk in deep sleep there, all white so that they glistened like snow-men. |
