The Liberation of the Mental Powers | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Whenever the giantesses on their flight came importunately close to the little moss-women, the latter jumped on their flying mountains, covered with earth and woods, swiftly lifted the giantesses on their backs, pressed their arms tightly around them and rushed with them over the flying rocks, constantly turning the spinning wheel they had brought with them. They dragged the giantesses through thorns and thickets, over sharp
crags and crevices, and through morasses, but gave no heed to their
victims, always shouting, ”We will spin your flax!” “In that manner the alfs, that travel in the disguise of the little moss-women, relieve the giants from the unfinished and undone, and spin and work it with the qualities of the cosmic fulness,” explained Sol. “Just as the imperfect clings to his weakness, the mind sometimes binds itself to limited action, hoping to gain fulfilment in this narrow way. But the liberation from the bondage to the powers of fate comes from the creative forces snatching the boundaries away from thinking and weaving the eternal insights playfully into the mind - just as the alf-girls are doing it here with the still unspun and unwoven flax of the giantesses.” |
