Then the king's son was tested for his natural modesty when the father-in-law asked him, ”Now my son, that you are my son-in-law, tell me which crafts you know that enabled you to perform all the many miracles that I ordered you to do?” And here was confirmed what the king had already demonstrated before with the boy to the ministers without them knowing that it was actually not a real test; because at that time the king's son thought indeed he could not fulfill the tasks he was given. “As the king's son now answered, ”I Don't know any crafts,” he proved natural modesty; for who had not chosen to say something else? And he told the father-in-law everything he knew already anyway but could not admit; for the way of the young man was not finished yet. “From all his heart the king was glad about the honest attitude of his son-in-law and he realized that his daughter was in good hands. |
