“And just as little as we have to go anywhere in order to fetch our hand, or our ear or our thinking or feeling, and to use it, as little someone in unity consciousness will understand why he should, for reasons of some additional fulfilment or for the purpose of some progress, go anywhere - indeed he thinks that such an idea is outright unrealistic.

“Where should I go?” he asks, ”since I see my whole environment as a part of my self? Should I creep into myself again?”

“Seen from the natural unity of life and the world, outer distinctions have as little significance as the distinction of a hand from the one who is bearing it.

One thing is unshakeably clear to someone in unity consciousness: all diversity appears only outwardly, superficially, and has the same value as the difference between his feeling and his hearing, both of which indeed are only part of himself, and in no way exist separate from himself anywhere else but with himself.

Therefore Helgi's soldiers turn their attention nowhere else than to the golden warriors who represent unity.
“Quite different in the case of the king's sons: they think of the great sage Sehermund and they perceive him as separate from themselves.

In the state of unity this is only possible for them because they have within themselves developed a feeling and an awareness of unlimited respect towards the great divine sage - a respect which cannot be overwhelmed even by the dominating awareness of unity.

From the level of their heart they would never ever dare to place themselves on one level with the holy man - as they would indeed do in their unity consciousness with the entire world.

Even if they see the whole world as a part of themselves - with regard to the mighty sage this view would appear presumptous to them; ”How could this great divine master,” they think, ”be a part of myself? The truth is rather that I am a part of his Self!”

“In that manner, their knowledge of unity is open like an infinite ravine; and with this gap in the field of their conscience the sons of the king approach Sehermund; because of all the beings that exist in the world only he can help bridging this infinite gap in their unity consciousness.

“In unity consciousness our senses are bright and alert. Yet also our threefold faculty of cognition is crystal-clear: our understanding, our feeling and our intellect - for the cosmic life-breath permeates powerfully all these organs of cognition.
“If we are in this state of unity with our inner, divine means of cognition, divine weapons or tools, as it were, are at our disposal.

“As the hundred and eight sons of Helgi come to the divine sage, Sehermund sings only one short, delicate tone which has all the cosmic diversity within it; and as soon as this tone enters the hearts of Helgi's sons, its entire inherent manifold unity flows into the immense gap that is left open towards the great divine man.
And the perfect life-breath within this tone enters the field of unity and fills it with infinite life.
