Silvery-bright shone the moon as Mani and Sol went on quiet forest-ways further up the hill. Eventually they reached the ”middle ring of the exercises of the mind,” and very soon they stood at the edge of the first clearing.

Mani felt the soft, strong grass underneath her feet and breathed the lovely fragrance of the flowers.
Veiled into a silvery shimmering haze, the forest meadow lay before them in its delicate splendour of flowers - as if this silent world was under the spell of a deep slumber.

Suddenly Mani noticed a secret blossoming of very fine radiating structures of air in the centre of the fragrant strata of mist.
Shimmering columns, delicate as a breath of air, reached towards the light of the moon.

Between these fans of rays golden-silvery mosaics began to glow forth, filling the spaces between the columns with a very softly flaming, form-giving luminosity.
Finally the golden-silvery glowing streams solidified.

In the silvery-white light of the moon a palace of undescribable beauty, white-golden and sparkling like precious stones, shone forth in front of Mani and Sol.
From the crystal mosaics, wrought red-golden, shone the eternal symbols of power.
The nine radiant towers of the castle seemed to reach into the skies.
Streams of blue-red light flowed from seven golden portals and poured into the vast plain, which surrounded the twinkling fortress, and there the flow of flames parted.

Redgolden waves streamed towards all sides and finally met in a belt of flaring blaze which now formed around the castle.
The blue waves of light, however, flowed further away from the palace, only to form a ring of water that girded the glowing blaze in a distance.
Thus the heat of the fire-circle did not hit the two immediately, but was refreshingly cooled by the waters, and spread only as a cosy warmth towards the edge of the clearing.

Ways of flowers appeared in the park of the castle, decorated with ornaments of blooms. Trees and shrubs rose, that appeared like silvery-golden crystal structures, blossoming with precious stones.
In the red-golden shine of the fire-ring they glistened like a shower of sparks from the aurora.

In the bright light, which spread from the castle, Mani saw a large number of boys and girls.
Clad in festive clothes they streamed from the edge of the clearing to the scintillating palace.

Merrily chatting they roamed about the whole flower-strewn park.
Mani wondered at the unconcern with which the youngsters approached the blaze - as if the heat did not affect them at all.
