The Cosmic Ball-Game | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
As if by a secret agreement of the ball-players the two bliss-faces
of the flying ball separated; from the center of the clearing they strove,
now on two balls, towards the boy and the girl. When the gold-ball had settled on the hand of the ball-player with
the golden dress - as if it wanted to rest - the player held it up towards
the sun of life. As the two blew into the spheres, they began to spin on the palm of their hands and their faces looked in swift succession once joyful and excited to their playmates, and once happy and moved to their stars. As they spun faster and faster, the balls became transparent and behind the deeply blissful face of the gold-ball Mani saw a subtle, golden splendour of stars that filled the whole sphere like a milk-white frothing sea of golden lights. And behind the joyous face of the silver-ball Mani saw a delicate firmament of stars stretching within the sphere; it glittered and shimmered like a sea of silver-white lights effervescent in shades of gold and yellow; and each of these lights was clad into a rainbow that scintillated in magnificent colours - like a coat full of eyes of happiness. But also within the innumerable little suns of the gold-ball such colourful eyes of dancing joy moved about; these, however, were directed inwardly whereas the star-eyes of the moon-ball looked outwards. |
