and Her Flame-Virgins Fleeing the Wild Chase |

Suddenly
a wind came up again. In its wake, in the light of the full moon, a
most beautiful woman, all clothed in perfect In her hand she held a mirror, richly embellished with jewels and gleaming
silverish-white - like the wandering moon. In her other hand the fairy held a golden spindle which she used to thread a golden string out of the mirror-image. She dipped the golden string into a clear fountain which she had brought with her and which was sparkling forth brightly, and wound it up onto the golden spindle. Due to the bath the string shone from within in many colours and assumed such a strong radiance within, that Mani thought many suns were rising in it. For a saddle the bear wore a wolf, whose fur gleamed like blue-shimmering
silver-hair, discharging bluish-white fire-winds into all directions. Like a vast swarm of graciously dancing will-oi-the-wisps they encircled
the beautiful woman riding the bear. With a scintillating snake, whose eyes gleamed at Mani like diamonds,
the white rider spurred the mighty bear to even greater haste. |
