“When he arrived at the palace of his father-in-law, he hardly could ask his wife and his father-in-law to mount the sedan chair on their decorated elephant because he realized that he had to continue his travel, for ever new hosts of richly laden, decorated elephants, camels, horses and donkeys followed up, all urging forward. “The ministers stood there with wide open mouths, and the king said to them, that the big procession was coming, because the prince was moving. “And
when they arrived in the country of the prince, the ministers there
believed the dowry had come from all over the world; for the wife of
the king's son brought so many riches that the whole country was flooded
with them. “And the ministers too built their ministries from gold, silver and precious stones, for everything was available again in abundance - like in the good old days of the king - and much more. “The
palace too was built all new - according to plans of the old king. “And
hardly had the thought been thought at the bottom of the heart when
the old king returned home and entered the great hall of stars; the
son could only realize that his beard was shimmering golden when he
fainted. “Many
a thing had become clear to him - yet many questions had remained unanswered,
and as soon as possible he wanted to travel with his wonder-horse into
the land of the mer-men to take up government there, as the man with
the golden beard had advised him. |
